Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a method used to treat unsightly spider veins of the legs. With this treatment, the physician uses a syringe and a tiny needle to inject a solution directly into the dilated vein. Various solutions can be used for treatment. We generally use hypertonic saline. It does cause some stinging when injected, but it is well tolerated. The needle that is used is very small, so that there is minimal discomfort. Fading of the treated veins occurs gradually over the subsequent weeks.
